If you are unwell with any of the following:
- Vomiting or diarrhoea (unless only minor)
- Fever, sweats and shaking
Then STOP taking medicines listed below. You can restart when you are well (after around 24 hours of eating and drinking normally). If you are in any doubt, contact your pharmacist or the practice.
Diuretics (also called ‘water tablets’):
- Such as Bumetanide, Furosemide, Indapamide, Hydrochlorothiazide, Amiloride, Spironolactone, Bendroflumethiazide, Chlortalidone, Metolazone.
ACE inhibitors and ARB medications:
- Things ending in “…pril” such as Ramipril, Lisinopril, Perindopril,
- Things ending in “…sartan” such as Losartan, Candesartan, Irbesartan, Valsartan.
Some Diabetes medicines:
- Such as Metformin, Canagliflozin, Dapagliflozin, Empagliflozin
Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs)
- Such as Ibuprofen, Ketoprofen, Mefenamic acid, Naproxen, Etoricoxib, High dose aspirin
